By Tom West,

NetEase Games has announced that Naraka: Bladepoint will go free-to-play later this month, with Xbox Game Pass members gaining benefits.

The Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC versions of Naraka: Bladepoint will be made free-to-play on July 13 when the game launches on PS5. Current Naraka: Bladepoint owners will be reimbursed via in-game currency, while Xbox Game Pass members will be offered additional benefits for the game.

As revealed during the Naraka Fest live stream, when Naraka: Bladepoint goes free-to-play on July 13, players who've previously purchased the game will be reimbursed via in-game gold, with the amount depending on the edition of the game you own. As for those of you playing via Xbox Game Pass, you'll automatically be upgraded to the Naraka: Bladepoint Ultimate Edition, which includes a number of in-game cosmetics, a digital soundtrack, and a digital artbook. There will be a few differences between the free and premium versions of the game, most notably the speed in which you can unlock new heroes. It's definitely worth checking out the FAQ for a rundown of each benefit.

Alongside the arrival of free-to-play, a new game mode will be added, called Capture the Spirit Well, which as the name suggests, will be a similar mode to Capture the Flag and will see two teams of 12 battle it out. A new Dual Halberd will be added along with a fresh hero, Tessa, an "ancient fox demon" with the ability to charm enemies and capture their souls. With Naraka: Bladepoint's second anniversary looming on the horizon, a swathe of in-game events will likely be on the way in the following months.

In other Xbox Game Pass news, Grand Theft Auto V's Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One versions joined the service as a surprise yesterday, while five other games will arrive soon.
